Williston, ND — Williston State College (WSC) is pleased to announce the hiring of Hercules Cummings as the institution’s new Vice President of Business Services. Cummings will officially begin his role on June 1, 2026, succeeding Deb Halvorson, who will retire in late May.
Cummings brings more than 13 years of senior management experience, along with an extensive background in finance, auditing, and business operations. Most recently, he served as the Finance Director and City Auditor for the City of Williston, a position he has held for the past six years. In this role, he oversaw financial strategy, budgeting, and auditing processes for the city.
Prior to his work in municipal government, Cummings gained valuable experience in real estate and the oil and gas industry in the Williston area. His diverse professional background also includes entrepreneurial experience as a co-owner of a coffee shop in Las Vegas, Nevada, and six years of service in the United States Navy.
Cummings holds a Master of Science in Accounting from Colorado Technical University, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix, and a Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Technology from Excelsior College. He also maintains multiple certifications in finance and related disciplines.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Cummings was recognized by the Williston Chamber of Commerce as part of the “Twenty Under Forty” program, highlighting their leadership and contributions to the local community.
