Williston, ND — Williston State College Athletics and Williston Area Scouting America are partnering to support local families in need through a Scouting for Food drive during the Teton Booster Club Classic Basketball Tournament, taking place November 13–14 at The Well.
Fans attending the two-day tournament are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to help "Fill the Canoe." Scouts and volunteers from area packs will be stationed outside The Well throughout both tournament days, collecting donations in a canoe as part of their community service efforts.
The initiative brings together athletics, Scouting, and community members to support neighbors in need while reinforcing the importance of service and generosity.
"Events like the Teton Booster Club Classic Basketball Tournament bring our community together, and we're excited to use that opportunity to support Williston Area Scouting America and their efforts to help local families," said Mason Przybilla, Athletic Director and Head Baseball Coach at Williston State College.
"We encourage everyone attending the tournament to bring a non-perishable food item and help the Scouts fill the canoe. It's a simple way to make a meaningful difference."
Putting Service into Action
For area Scouts, the food drive offers an opportunity to put the values of Scouting into action.
"Scouting for Food is about more than collecting donations; it's about teaching our Scouts the importance of service, generosity, and making a positive difference in their community," said Brandon Delvo, Scouting America Pack Committee Chairmen.
"We're grateful to Williston State College and the Teton Booster Club for the opportunity to support our neighbors in need. Partnerships like these demonstrate the strength of our community and show our Scouts what it means to help others."
Help Fill the Canoe
Community members are encouraged to participate by bringing shelf-stable, non-perishable food donations to The Well on Friday, November 13, or Saturday, November 14.
Every contribution will help area Scouts work toward their goal of filling the canoe and supporting those in need.
