Williston State's Diesel Technology Program receives generous donation

WILLISTON, N.D. - Williston State College's Diesel Technology Program has just received a significant donation from Tractor & Equipment at the tune of $10,000. The Caterpillar Foundation matched Tractor & Equipment's gift with an additional $10,000 bringing the total donation to $20,000.

"This is an incredible opportunity not only for the program, but for our students," said WSC Diesel Technology Program Coordinator, Dale Maynard. "This gift will allow us to continue to update our program, equipment and help our students succeed."

Presentation of the check was made on Tuesday, September 11th at the new Tractor & Equipment Caterpillar Rental Store. David Eisenhooth, Tractor & Equipment Company General Service Manager, was on hand to deliver the check to WSC's Maynard. Eisenhooth also serves on the WSC Diesel Technology Program advisory board.

The first $10,000 of the donation will be earmarked for scholarships for incoming and current diesel students. The remaining $20,000 will be used on equipment, supplies, and technology as well as to assist students in participation at statewide Skills USA competitions.

"This funding shows Tractor & Equipment and Caterpillar's commitment to diesel education as well as being industry partners in an effort to drive this program forward," said WSC Transportation and Energy Coordinator, Brian Rencher. "They [Tractor & Equipment and Caterpillar] continue to meet industry needs in Williston and the surrounding areas."

Kelly Johnson, manager of the new T&E Caterpillar Rental Store and former graduate of the WSC Diesel Technology Program, provided a tour of the new facility after the check presentation. The T&E Caterpillar Rental Store also employs a current WSC Diesel Technology student during his time outside of class.

This funding will be used during the 2013-2014 academic year, evaluated at the end of that period, and can be given on an annual basis.
