WSC's Kirby Lund Publishes Article with Humanities ND Magazine
Posted: Apr 16 2021
WILLISTON, N.D. — Kirby Lund, an assistant professor of English at Williston State College, had an article published in a regional magazine titled Humanities ND. His article is titled “Staying Grounded,” which tells stories about his connection to the landscape of North Dakota. “I’ve thought about the everyday spaces we inhabit since I was in graduate school, but I’ve never turned those ideas back to myself and my own experiences,” Lund explains. To write his essay, he utilized the personal essay genre, a writing style that he teaches his students at the college.
Humanities ND is a publication that showcases topics relevant to North Dakota. Formerly known as On Second Thought, the magazine includes works of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry from North Dakota authors. Each issue has a special topic, such as “The American Dream,” “In Good Humor,” or “Health and Happiness.” Lund’s article will be published in the “Sense of Place” issue in April.
