WSC to travel to Spain in 2014 - Spaghetti dinner fundraiser planned for July 25th
WILLISTON, N.D. -Williston State is getting ready to hit the road again on another global trip - this time to Spain.
"Seeing the culture first-hand is a whole different experience," said Courtney Christianson, a WSC student planning on attending the trip. "I thought it would be a great thing to take advantage of."
The trip is planned for March 2014, with a departure date of the 10th. All WSC students are encouraged to sign up. Community members are also welcome to join the excursion. The cost for the 10-day trip is $4,453 and includes transportation, travel insurance, hotel accommodations, breakfast, dinner, tour director, and local guides.
To alleviate some of the cost, students like Christianson are putting on the spaghetti dinner fundraiser. The dinner is scheduled for Thursday, July 25th from 5pm - 8pm. Guests will be served on the WSC campus in the Teton Grill where they will be asked for a free-will donation. The meal will consist of spaghetti, garlic toast, beverage, and a dessert. There will also be a raffle with tickets costing one dollar. Tickets will be sold the night of the fundraiser.
Proceeds from the spaghetti dinner will go to the volunteers working the event and making the trip to Spain. Events like this will help many of the participants in meeting their monetary goals. Both students and community members planning to make the trip to Spain are encouraged to participate in group fundraisers.
"I'm very excited for this trip," says Maren Furuseth, WSC Spanish Instructor. "We will be gone for approximately 10 days and will visit about 7 different cities in Spain."
Furuseth, who will be accompanying the group to Spain, is in charge of facilitating the trip. WSC students and community members will need to contact her for registration and/or any questions they may have. There is a payment due upon registration, $300. After that, you can be set up on a payment plan for the remaining amount. Additionally, any students planning on attending the trip need to have taken a college-level Spanish class or be enrolled in one by spring 2014.
