WSC helps students bridge gap between high school and college
WILLISTON, N.D. - Williston State's Academic Success department has developed and will be hosting a Summer Bridge program for all high school juniors and seniors as well as adults.
This program is meant to help individuals, intending to enroll in college classes, raise scores in Math and English in order to meet college-level requirements.
The Summer Bridge program will be held over the course of four weeks starting on June 2nd and ending on June 27th. While classes will be held Monday through Friday from 7:30am - noon and 1pm - 5pm, students are able to attend as it works with their schedule.
"It's a very flexible program and you can work at your own pace," says Monica Struck, WSC Learning Commons Manager and English prep instructor. "If you finish in three weeks, you don't have to go the fourth. If you need to attend around your work schedule, we allow that as well."
Although the program is flexible, WSC does encourage participants to attend as often as possible in order to get as much done as they can during the four week duration.
Participants will have direct access to instructors and classes will be taught on campus. However, online resources are available as well so a hybrid of on-campus and online work is possible.
The cost for the program will depend upon the number of prep courses each individual chooses to take. Classes range from two to three credits each and each credit is charged out at Williston State's normal rate of $130.36 per credit. Assessments to determine which prep classes are needed are free.
Anyone interested in attending the Summer Bridge program needs to first apply for admission to WSC, www.willistonstate.edu/apply. Once you have applied, you must register by May 30th with Monica Struck who can be reached at monica.crane@willistonstate.edu or 701.774.4227.
