WSC Spring & Summer 2019 Schedules on the Way

Posted: Oct 25 2018

WILLISTON, N.D. - In preparation for the upcoming spring semester, WSC will release its Spring and Summer 2019 course schedules on Thursday, November 1.

This marks the second year in a row that the spring and summer schedules have been released together.

"Previously the spring schedule was released on its own, and the summer and fall were together," explained Kim Wray, Vice President for Academic Affairs. "This combination was switched in an attempt to help students better prepare for the rest of the year. If a student does not pass a class, needs to catch up, or has to take a summer-only class, he or she can plan ahead knowing what will be offered in the summer."

In addition to the traditional course offerings like COMM 110 Fundamentals of Public Speaking and MATH 103 College Algebra, the Spring 2019 class schedule will have three new classes that may be of interest to students.

Taught by WSC's own Mental Health Counselor, Leah Hoffman, HPER 104 Personal Development will assist students in developing strategies to enhance their personal emotional wellness, purpose, and overall well-being. Students will be encouraged to explore personal values, experiences, and beliefs and will complete self-evaluations to aid in emotional growth and understanding.

BADM 170 Recreation Areas and Facilities Management will be taught by Health and Wellness instructor, Shawn Cote, and is an introduction to the planning, construction, design, risk management, and maintenance of sport and recreation areas, facilities, and buildings. The Williston Area Recreation Center will serve as a valuable case study.

And for those aggies out there, AGEC 275 Applied Agricultural Law taught by Jessalyn Bachler, WSC's Agriculture instructor, will cover laws affecting agriculture and agribusiness including property ownership, financial relations, and environmental regulation.

The Summer 2019 class schedule is much smaller and includes mostly online course offerings.
