WILLISTON, N.D. - To honor and support all of the veterans in the Williston area, Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), Williston State College's honor society, and the Teton Grill will be hosting a Taco Feed, April 29 from 4 to 7 p.m.
This free-will donation event is open to the community. All veterans eat for free. All funds raised for this event will be going to Office of Veterans' Affairs, Williston's local veteran agency, to help homeless and injured veterans.
Holly Cummins, Teton Grill Manager, and her kitchen staff will be serving up the tacos. PTK will sponsor an ice-cream sundae bar.
Each holiday, PTK tries to donate its time to the community. Since school is not in session for Memorial Day, PTK thought a charitable dinner would help the veterans.
"PTK wanted to do something for the veterans in our area and came up with the dinner idea," explained Maren Furseth, PTK's Advisor. "They are all excited to raise money for this cause. They are hoping to get a lot of support from the community so their donation can be as large as possible."
Williston State's PTK organized a Thanksgiving drive for the Salvation Army, helped set up and tear down the API banquet in November, hosted a Giving Tree in December for families from the Williston and Watford City Family Crisis Center, and entertained over one hundred children this March with their fourth annual Easter egg hunt.
PTK was founded in 1918 for students with excellent academic standing who attend two-year schools. Williston State College's PTK was formed in 1990 with Loren Haugen and Wanda Meyer as co-advisors.
