WILLISTON, N.D. - WSC President Dr. Nadolny will open his home for the Delta Kappa Gamma (DKG) Valentine's fundraiser February 11, from 6-7 p.m., to raise money for the Williston Imagination Library. DKG members will provide wine, water, and chocolates during tours of the residence.
Composed of female educators, DKG's Williston chapter has been focusing on literacy and promoting professional development for educators since 1948. Of the twelve current members, six are employed by WSC. Donating to Dolly Parton's Imagination Library has been one of their biggest fundraising goals.
Inspired by a similar Mayville State fundraiser, the local Williston DKG chapter knew opening this historic Williston home, located across University Avenue from the college, would draw a crowd.
"A lot of people have never been inside the President's house. We thought a fundraiser like this would allow a lot of people who have never been inside an opportunity to get a tour," WSC's Kim Weismann, Williston DKG President, stated. "This is the first time we have done this, but we knew trying something new would draw a big crowd and be a fun way for people to donate to the Imagination Library."
In 2012, the WSC Foundation purchased the home from Marv Kaiser at a reduced price, and it has been Dr. Nadolny's home since. Though often used for North Dakota University System (NDUS), Legislative, and WSC social events, the President's house is occasionally open to the public for events such as this.
Tickets for the Uncork and Unwind event are $10 and can be purchased through Weismann over the phone at 701.774.4503 or at the door on the day of the event.
"We are honored that Dr. Nadolny is opening his house for the community to support literacy locally," Weismann noted. "If anyone wants to donate to DKG and is unable to attend our Valentine's event, please reach out to us. We welcome all women in educational backgrounds in the Williston area. If you are interested in joining, please contact our chapter."
