Tetons Announce Jennifer Hartman as Volleyball Coach

Posted: Jun 11 2015

WILLISTON, N.D. - The Williston State Teton Athletic Department is excited to announce the hire of Head Women's Volleyball Coach Jennifer Hartman. Hartman takes over the position after Megan Theis resigned to take a full-time position within the college. Hartman previously has experience as the head coach of Dickinson State as well as at the High School level in Dickinson.

No stranger to Mon-Dak volleyball, Hartman grew up in Miles City, Montana. After a standout prep career, she joined the Blue Hawks at Dickinson State and competed in both Volleyball and Track and Field. Hartman's impact was immediate on the court, being named to as the Conference Freshman of the Year. She would continue to see success with multiple honors in both volleyball and track, including holding the school record for Long Jump with 19ft and 2.75 inches. Hartman graduated from Dickinson State with a degree in Elementary Education and a Minor in Coaching. She spent the last 3 years working full-time as a 2nd grade teacher in Dickinson, which allowed her the opportunity to stay involved with coaching at both the collegiate and high school levels.

After her playing career, Hartman immediately joined the coaching ranks as she took over as the Head Coach of Dickinson State Volleyball for the Fall 2012 season. Hartman was able to win her 1st playoff game and qualify for the Frontier Conference Tournament.

Hartman believes this experience will help her immensely at Williston State. "I was able to develop very strong connections in the Montana and North Dakota areas that will help with both recruiting players to Williston State but also to advance players after their 2-years at Williston State

Hartman is already on the recruiting trail to finalize the roster for the 2015 season. "I hope to continue the success and tradition with both volleyball and with Teton Athletics. I am excited not only for this opportunity, but also to become a Teton." With only 3 returning sophomores, Hartman will have a younger group to develop come August. She states "I cannot wait for it to be August 1st and get the team on campus and begin our journey. It is going to be an exciting year!"

In addition to becoming the Head Volleyball Coach, Hartman will also take on some duties from the Athletic Coordinator position. She will begin full time at Williston State on July 1st. The Tetons begin the season with a trip to Nebraska to take on national powers in Northeastern Junior College and North Platte Community College. The Tetons first home game will be September 9th against rival Bismarck State.
