WILLISTON, N.D. - Traveling to Nationals is not new for the Teton Hockey team, but this year is different. A new team, a new conference, a new challenge.
Since 2012, Teton Hockey has made five trips to Nationals as part of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), winning back-to-back national championships in 2013 and 2014.
In its first year transitioning to the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA), the Tetons are ranked first in Division II for the West Region and of the 250 colleges nationwide, the Tetons are in the top 10.
A more competitive conference, the Tetons have doubled their games and raised their ranking by remaining undefeated in Division II this season and beating a few ACHA Division I teams; University of Minot, ranked first in ACHA Division I, included.
The Tetons received the #1 Seed in the West Region, which gave them a bye through regionals. The team will travel to Columbus Ohio, March 14-19 and compete in their first game on March 15 at 4:45 p.m. against Central Region's number four seed.
The Tetons will host a couple of fundraisers to help offset their travel expenses. In addition to an email fundraising campaign, the team will be servers at Buffalo Wild Wings in March and J-Dubbs will host a Teton Hockey Night out, Wednesday, March 8 beginning at 5 p.m.
If your company is interested in sponsoring the Tetons or if you would like to donate, please contact John Bowkus, Men's Head Hockey Coach, at 701.774.4288.
