WSC Diversity Club Creates Teton Food Pantry
WILLISTON, N.D. - The WSC Diversity Club works to promotes an accepting environment of all students at WSC on our campus. This includes people who may be in need. The Diversity Committee (faculty and staff) and the Diversity Club (students) supported the idea and brought it to life.
“Some of us knew of students who were in need. With COVID creating extra hardships with people being laid off, we saw an increased need for food for students.” Dr. Kim Weismann, Professor and Diversity Club Advisor.
“The pantry has been up and running for about four months and students are stopping to get food. We are basing it on the honor system. We have had a wonderful response from faculty and staff for donations,” added Weismann.
The pantry is for current WSC students. It is outside of office of LeeAnn Clark, Accessibility and Retention Specialist inside the Teton Lounge in Stevens Hall.
Sometimes food insecurity is a temporary issue and sometimes is symptomatic of bigger issues. The pantry is placed outside of Clark’s office for a reason. Clark is there to talk to students and provide them with support and community resources if necessary.
If you are interested in donating to the Teton Food Pantry, please contact Kim Weismann.
