WILLISTON, N.D. - Delta Kappa Gamma and Taco John's will partner to promote Crunch for a Cause, a fundraiser to support DKG and the Imagination Library, November 12 at Taco John's restaurant.
DKG, an international society for female educators, has been in the Williston community for 68 years, currently focusing on literacy and promoting professional development for educators. Williston State College (WSC) employs seven of its thirteen active members.
WSC's Kim Weismann, Williston DKG president, leads the chapter with six of her WSC co-workers; Maren Furuseth, Williston DKG vice-president; Amanda Davis, Williston DKG Secretary; and members Katie Peterson, Crystal Hotchkiss, Heather Fink, and Susan Zimmerman. The Williston DKG chapter also includes six other members from Williston High School, Williston elementary schools, Trenton, and local retried teachers.
"We try to meet monthly and discuss a variety of different approaches for fundraising and activities to help our members," Weismann, explained. "We are currently planning our State Workshop in 2016 at WSC."
Promoting literacy through donating to Dolly Parton's Imagination Library is one of DKG's biggest fundraising goals. Annually, DKG holds fundraisers to register Williston children to receive monthly books for free.
"The Williston Community is encouraged to come out and support DKG and their pursuit of helping Williston children through literacy," Weismann said. "If anyone wants to donate to DKG and is unable to attend Thursday's event, please reach out to us. We welcome all women in educational backgrounds in the Williston area; if you are interested in joining, please contact our chapter."
DKG's upcoming event will be held at Taco John's, located at 1215 2nd Ave West, Thursday, November 12, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Be sure to "like" the Williston State College Facebook page and show the Thursday's DKG event post to Taco John's, and they will give DKG 50% of your purchase.
