WILLISTON, N.D. - Williston State College announced this week that students can now apply for the Williams County Graduate (WCG) or the Regional County Scholarships until May 1, 2018.
Eligible recipients for the WCG Scholarship, must have graduated or earned an GED in Williams County no matter the year, while Regional County Scholarships are only available to recent 2018 graduates or GEDs earned in Burke, Daniels, Divide, McKenzie, Mountrail, Richland, Roosevelt, Sheridan or Valley Counties this year. Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis and limited to allocated funds.
"Williston State College, along with the WSC Foundation, is once again pleased to offer scholarships to graduates from Williams County and other regional high schools for the 18-19 school year," stated Dr. John Miller, President of WSC. "These scholarships allow students a very affordable way to begin their college career at WSC. Not only will college be more affordable, but students will benefit from a great educational experience at Williston State College."
As of September 19, 2017, a total $674,530 has been awarded to 279 WCG and Regional Scholarship recipients. These 279 students have contributed to WSC's third consecutive record-breaking enrollment for Fall with 1,098 students.
Students must maintain the following minimum requirements to keep the WCG and Regional County Scholarships: full-time status (12-16 credits); enrolled for up to four consecutive semesters (Fall 2018 to Spring 2020), excluding summer; a 2.0 term GPA; and enrollment in at least one on-campus course each semester.
To apply, students must complete an Application for Admission and Application Fee by May 1, 2018. FAFSA forms must be completed and handed in before August 20, 2018.
Scholarships for housing are also available to all WCG or Regional County Scholarship recipients that will cover $1,000 per semester for that academic year (Fall 2018 and Spring 2019).
