WILLISTON, N.D. - The R. E. Herman Family Trust has been granted naming rights to the last lab located in the WSC science center after the WSC Foundation received its most recent donation.
Now managed by their children-Connie (Herman) Teske and December Herman-along with their Granddaughter, Stacy Massey, Grandson, Steven Teske and family friend Steve Oyloe, the Herman Trust also honored Robert and Sharon Herman earlier this year by establishing two significant scholarships for dedicated nursing students deserving of financial need.
"The Herman Family Trust values the nursing profession and sees the need for scholarship dollars in that area," Terry Olson, Executive Director of the WSC Foundation, explained. "We are very appreciative of the Herman Family Trust and how enjoyable it has been to work with the Trustees. We hope to continue this relationship for many years to come."
"My mother and father's mission was to improve the lives of children, to create opportunities for students, and to enhance healthcare for the residents of North Dakota," Teske and Massey explained. "WSC and education is a huge cornerstone to the community. Our parents and grandparents believed that the best way to give back to the world was to first give to the place you call home!"
The donations for the two nursing scholarships were even more significant because the North Dakota Challenge Fund matched them. In an agreement that began July 1, 2015, for every two dollars donated to the WSC Foundation the North Dakota Challenge Fund will contribute one dollar.
"The donations received by the Herman Family Trust will provide great support to nursing students in need for years to come," said Dr. John Miller, Acting President of Williston State College. "After everything they have done to help our students, it is our privilege to place a Robert and Sharon Herman plaque outside our fourth science lab."
The WSC Foundation encourages anyone interested in donating to contact the Foundation at 701.572.9275.
