WILLISTON, N.D. - On Friday, July 17 the Williston ARC hosted Williston State College's July Pinning Ceremony for 24 practical nursing students. The students received their Certificate in Practical Nursing and their symbolic nursing pin.
"The nursing pin is a source of pride and privilege earned by graduates of the nursing program. Each school adopts their symbol or pin to indicate the excellent nursing educational program the graduate came from," Janet Johnson, MBA, MSN, RN?previous WSC Nursing Coordinator explained.
WSC alongside Bismarck State College, Dakota College of Bottineau, and Lake Region State College is a member of the Dakota Nursing Program. Students who attended Friday's Pinning Ceremony represented multiple site locations; three were from the Fort Berthold Community College site, 10 from the Minot site, and 11 from the WSC site.
"WSC has a 100% pass rate for its PN program and so far those that have graduated from WSC in May with their ADN have also achieved a 100% pass rate," Gail Raasakka, current WSC Nursing Coordinator explained. "The WSC program is doing well and is in candidacy status and is seeking accreditation from ACEN (Accreditation Commission for Education In Nursing)."
WSC is currently looking for qualified nursing faculty to keep up with enrollment. Interested Candidates can contact Michelle Remus, WSC Director for Human Resources, at 701.774.4204 for further details.
