Williston, N.D., May 4th -Williston State College professor Richard Stenberg teaches a course on historic baseball from the 19th century.  "It's an eight-week course," Stenberg said. "Studying 1870 rules and the distinct differences in baseball from when it began until today." Monday, May 4th at 6:00pm an 1870's period baseball game will be played at Williston State College on the south end of the campus along University Avenue just west of Frontier Hall.

There are several differences from the 19th century game that Stenberg explains in his class. From no gloves and fair foul balls to dime fines from the umpire for excessive & uncomplimentary cranking (cheering from fans) this event is a springtime classic at Williston State College.  Director of Creative Services, Jenny Wolf stated, "It is awesome to see how interactive the game used to be, and Stenberg is just so passionate and realistic that it is fun to watch." Families and participants are welcome to attend.
