Gregory is First Hockey Coach for Teton Hockey

Posted: May 17 2011

Seamus Gregory has accepted the position of Head Hockey Coach at Williston State College.

Gregory most recently coached at Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, IL, an NCAA DIII college.  He served as an assistant for two years under legendary hockey coach, Mr. Tony Fritz, who had been at Lake Forest for 32 years.  Upon Fritz's retirement, Gregory was appointed as interim Head Coach, and just completed this past season as the interim Head Coach.  Gregory was the lead recruiter for Lake Forest College.

From Hunter Berg, Athletic Director:  "We are very excited that Seamus will be the first person to lead our program.  He brings a high level of energy and enthusiasm to the position.  He is committed to recruiting at a high level and has a great sense of how to run a college hockey program.  He'll be a great addition to our college, our community, and our athletic department.  We have a lot of work to do in the next three months but we are excited to work with Seamus on this new venture."

The Tetons will begin play in the 2011-2012 season and will use the Agri-Sports Complex for its home arena.

From Seamus Gregory: "I would first like to thank the search committee at WSC, it is great honor for myself and family to be the first ever Hockey Coach at Williston State, I look forward to the challenge and I am very much excited to get things moving towards next season and bringing junior college hockey to the city of Williston.

"Upon arriving in Williston I had great sense of community and family, especially on the campus at WSC. It is a growing, vibrant community and I feel that hockey will be a huge success, the community has all tools to be a great hockey town. The Agri Sports Complex is an excellent facility which enable us to have a first class place to play which is very important.

The most important aspect that made my decision to come to Williston very easy was the support from the community. The plan of bringing a successful program to the city made it very enticing. That is our intent to follow the other programs at WSC and that's a winning tradition."
