WILLISTON, N.D. - Williston's Delta Kappa Gamma (DKG) chapter has been focusing on literacy and promoting professional development for educators since 1948 specifically on raising funds for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library.
Parton created the Imagination Library to provide books to children every month for their first five years. Kim Weismann, DKG's President and Associate Professor at WSC along with seven other WSC employees make up most of the twenty-one-member chapter.
"At this time, the Williston Imagination Library is in need of funds to continue meeting the needs of the growing Williston community," Weismann stated. "We have about 800 kids that we send books to every month. It costs about $25 per child per year."
Williston's DKG makes an annual goal to raise money for the Imagination Library through a variety of fundraisers.
"Last year we had a popular Wine and Chocolate event to tour the Kaiser House [WSC President's Home]," Weismann said. "It was such a success that we are considering doing another event for the public to view an iconic home in Williston."
DKG is currently hosting an online Tupperware fundraiser until January 26. The proceeds vary depending on items being purchased.
