College to Host Education Summit

Posted: Mar 31 2017

WILLISTON, N.D. - The North Dakota General Education Spring Summit will be held on Williston State College's campus, April 7, 2017 from 9 a.m. until noon.

Presenters, Dr. Larry Peterson (Professor Emeritus and Past Dean of Libraries, and Director of Assessment at NDSU) and Dr. Tom Steen (Professor Emeritus and Past Director of Essential Studies at UND), will facilitate discussions on key issues people with general education responsibilities face.

Made up of all the public universities and colleges in the North Dakota University System (NDUS) as well as private and tribal North Dakota colleges, the North Dakota General Education Council (NDGEC) hosts biannual events to collaborate and discuss general education concerns.

"Each event is hosted by a different college, and this is the first year, to my knowledge, that WSC has hosted one," explained Steve Grunenwald, WSC's Associate Professor of English. "WSC has undergone significant change over the last eight years, both physical and philosophical. Most representatives from other institutions have yet to see these changes and having them come on campus will give us an opportunity to showcase our campus and students."

Though topics vary at each summit, over 30 representatives from North Dakota colleges plan on attending the WSC April 7th event.   For more information on the NDGEC visit: http://www.ndus.edu/uploads/resources/2515/constitution-of-the-nd-general-education-council.pdf
