College Students Art on Display at the James

Posted: Jan 27 2017

WILLISTON, N.D. - WSC's Art Instructor, Lino Azevedo, welcomes community members to the opening of the Williston State College Art Show at the James Memorial Art Center and meet some of the artists, February 3 from 7:00 p.m. to 9 p.m.

This fall, Azevedo's students learned to successfully apply the elements of art and design principles to their work. WSC student art will be on display for the entire month of February.

"This exhibition will feature academic as well as personal work by students studying art and design at our local college," stated Azevedo. "Attending gives the Williston community the opportunity to purchase original works of art from tomorrow's masters."

Azevedo began his tenure at WSC this August. Before becoming a Teton Azevedo worked at Winthrop U, Wingate U, Art Institute, and Rowan Cabarrus Community College. He has been featured in Art Reveal magazine.

This spring, Azevedo's six classes are at full capacity in his art classroom in the Wester Star Building.

"Lino is an excellent artist who brings those skills to the classroom," stated Kim Weismann, Art and Human Sciences Department Chair. "He is enthusiastic and dedicated to his students. He is a great addition to WSC."

If unable to attend the February 3 opening, community members can view students' work Monday through Thursdays from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., on Fridays from 1 to 5 p.m., and on Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. until February 28.
