WILLISTON, N.D. – Williston State College is proud to announce that it has been awarded two grants totaling $7,388 from Enbridge ($4,888) and Midco ($2,500) for the acquisition of five new Automated External Defibrillator (AED) devices for each of our resident dorm buildings.  WSC is deeply grateful for the support of our community and these organizations.  The significance of having AED devices available for student health cannot be overstated.  Sudden cardiac arrests can transpire without warning and affect individuals of all ages.  Having AEDs on hand can significantly increase the chances of survival and decrease the risk of long-term brain damage.  This is particularly important for our students, who may be far from home and may not have immediate access to medical care.

“It is our responsibility to provide our students with a safe campus,” says Cade Coles, Grant Writer, and Administrator for Williston State College.  “Add these AEDs to the residence halls has helped reassure our students living on campus that we are concerned for and committed to their safety.”

Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are portable devices designed to aid in renewing individuals suffering from cardiac arrest.  These devices are intended for use by non-medical personnel and require minimal training.  By making these devices readily available in our dorm buildings, we can ensure that our students have immediate access to life-saving equipment in an emergency.

“I am excited to get these installed,” says Chris Kadrmas, Director for Student and Residence Life for Williston State College.  “This not only enhances our emergency preparedness, but also underscores our commitment to fostering a secure and safe living environment for our students. It is our mission continue to improve the residence halls, and this is an important step in the right direction for us.”

With the assistance of these grant awards, we will purchase new AED devices for each of our resident dorm buildings, ensuring that our students have access to the best possible healthcare facilities.  We are committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for our students and will continue to work towards this goal in the future.  WSC thanks Enbridge and Midco for their generosity and support.
