Students attending were Kayla Crooker, Shelby Grabow, Kenzie Hartsoch, Ty Rolfsrud, Brad Rosenquist and Brett Wilkens.

Contests in which they could participate ranged from Employment interviews, Prepared Public speaking, Electronic Portfolio Presentations, Case Studies problems in different areas such as Agronomy and Animal Science as well as the written test portion of the Agriculture Mechanics contest.

They participated in a College Bowl, which was made up of teams of three to five formed from each school attending, which were NDSU in Fargo, Dickinson State University, Bismarck State College, ND State School of Science in Wahpeton, and WSC.

"The WSC team placed second in the College Bowl, beating out all of NDSU, DSU and NDSCS's teams, and had a close final match with one of BSC's teams," said advisor Kim Murphy. "Team members were Kayla Crooker, Shelby Grabow and Ty Rolfsrud."

Students were given an opportunity to mingle and visit with many individuals involved in the agriculture industry at a breakfast Jan. 27 at the Age Expo. "This gave the students not only an opportunity to mingle, but also gave them an informal question and answer session," Murphy said.

Thursday morning saw the practical part of the Ag Mechanics contest as well as specialist contests (agronomy, beef, swine, sheep, precision ag, etc).

"Thursday afternoon was our time at the Ag Expo as many students were involved in the Ag Sales contest," Murphy said. "This gave them the opportunity to show off their salesmanship skills by pairing up with different Ag businesses that had booths there and selling the product(s) from that booth to the judges."

She said that it was easy to tell the students from the professionals, as students were dressed in red polo shirts donated by Titan Machinery of Minot.

The event concluded with some of the team presentations of the specialist contests and the final awards. In the Ag Sales contests, Wilkens captured second place in the Equipment and Machinery Division, and Grabow nailed third place in the Feed, Seed and Chemical Division.

In the Career Portfolio Presentations, Rosenquist took third place; and in the Livestock Specialist contest, first place went to Grabow, Crooker and Hartsoch for the overall division.
