Healthcare Training Facility Fundraising Information

Introduction

Northwest North Dakota, through revenue generated from the oil and gas industries, accounts for approximately 75% of the State’s revenue each year. A production level of 1.2 million barrels of oil per day, at an average price of $75/barrel, generates $90+ million/day. To sustain this level of production, the City of Williston, Williams County, and northwest North Dakota all need to continue to grow in population numbers. Currently, Williston is slightly over 30,000 population, with projections for continued growth. To sustain such growth, Williston aspires to become a regional hub for healthcare by expanding existing healthcare offerings, and adding new ones.

As a result of this demand, Williston State College asked the ND legislature for support to build a $36.6 million healthcare training facility. The legislature provided $28.6 million for the facility, combined with $8 million of local funds. The healthcare training center will be built on WSC’s Campus with construction slated to begin in May of 2024, and completion in the Fall of 2025. The facility will allow for expansion of healthcare programs at WSC, while also bringing four-year completion programs to the region from the other six, four-year universities in the ND University System. The project has support from every regional healthcare provider in northwest ND and eastern MT.
