International Student Admission

WHO QUALIFIES AS AN INTERNATIONAL STUDENT:
Any individual who is not a US Citizen or Permanent Resident is considered an international student for admission purposes.

Individuals who currently possess a US visa who would like to study at WSC are encouraged to contact Enrollment Services at wsc.admission@willistonstate.edu, texting 701.595.7389 or by calling 701.774.4200 for specific visa and admission requirements.

WHAT TYPES OF VISAS DOES WSC OFFER:

F-1: Students studying under the Associate in Arts or Associate in Science meet requirements for the F-1 student visa. F-1 students are eligible to transfer to other US institutions in the US upon degree completion. F-1 visa students must enroll in at least 12 credits of coursework each semester, 9 credits of which must be on-campus.

M-1: Students studying under any of WSC's technical programs meet requirements for the M-1 student visa. Upon completion of an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree or certificate program, M-1 students are not eligible to transfer to another US institution and must return to their home country. Students may not change from M-1 to F-1 visa status while in the U.S. and would need to return to their home country to apply for an F-1 visa prior to attending another U.S. institution. Students holding an M-1 visa must be enrolled in at least 12 credits of on-campus coursework each semester. Students applying for an M-1 visa will eligible for one year of study. If the student is pursing an AAS degree, after the one year of study, the student must complete a form I-539 for an extension. This form and accompanying fee are the responsibility of the student.
