WILLISTON, N.D. -   Record-breaking enrollment continues at WSC with 1,098 registered students according to census totals released Tuesday, September 19.

A 5.68% increase from Fall 2016, 885 students are from North Dakota while 104 are from Montana. The remaining 109 come from several other states, Canada, and other countries.

Released four weeks after the first day of school, census totals have shown that enrollment at WSC has been on the rise since Spring 2015 when the highest reported enrollment was 1,009 students.

The popularity of the Williams County Graduate (WCG) Scholarship, expansions to the Regional County Scholarship, and Early-Entry (dual-credit) classes are the main reasons for WSC increasing enrollment.

A total of $674,530 has funded both the 201 WCG Scholarship and the 78 Regional County Scholarship.

Early-Entry headcount for Fall 2017 is 289 students producing 1,067 credits which is a 24% increase in headcount and a 26% increase in credit hours from Fall 2016.

"Williston State College's fall enrollment growth was once again driven by our regional and county scholarships that provide students with free tuition and fees," stated WSC President, Dr. John Miller. "In addition, a housing scholarship tied to Williams and Regional scholarship recipients has also provided students an additional incentive to attend WSC. Enrollment at WSC continues to grow at a steady and manageable rate, allowing the college to keep pace with expanding course and program requests."

Occupancy of the WSC's four dorms; Abramson, Manger, Nelson and Frontier is at 81.77%.
