WILLISTON, N.D. -WSC has invited motivational speaker, bestselling author, and Paralympic ski racer, Josh Sundquist, to share his journey on November 7 at 7:00 p.m. in the Well. This event is free and open to the public.

Featured on CNN and in USA Today, Sundquist has spoken across the county to groups ranging from Fortune 500 companies and inner city public schools to the White House.

Sundquist's journey started at age nine when he was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer and given a fifty percent chance to live. After a year of chemotherapy treatments, Sundquist's leg was amputated and he was declared cured of the disease by age thirteen.

Three years later Sundquist took up ski racing. After training diligently for the next six years, Sundquist was named to the US Paralympic Ski Team for the 2006 Paralympics in Turino, Italy.

Since his time as a Paralympian, Sundquist has donated his time as a National Spokesperson for the Combined Federal Campaign, raised over $300 million a year for charities, has been featured on Dorito bags nationwide for his work on behalf of amputees, and has written two memoirs. His first, Just Don't Fall, was a National Bestseller and his second, We Should Hang Out Sometime, is under development to become a movie.

"I found a video about Josh on Facebook and instantly got drawn to him," explained Student Life Coordinator, Karissa Kjos. "His message is told in a comedic way and connects to every age level."

Sundquist shares stories about losing his leg to cancer, ski racing in the Paralympics, and playing jokes with his artificial leg to motivate others to overcome adversity and reach peak performance.

Like last year's event with Holocaust survivor, Eva Kor, WSC expects this event to bring in another packed house. It is recommended to bring the whole family and to arrive early.
