WSC Hosts Great Northwest Area Career and Tech Center’s last Hands-On Welding Day

WSC’s Commencement Reflects High Enrollment Records

WILLISTON, N.D. - The Great Northwest Area Career and Tech Center is holding its last, Hands-On Welding Day for the school year at Williston State College (WSC), Monday, May 15 from 9:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Students from Burke Central High School and Powers Lake High School have been taking an Agriculture Welding and Fabrication class this Spring Semester offered by the Great Northwest Area Career and Tech Center.  

Throughout the semester, students were given the chance to not only weld but understand potential career options, tour industries focusing in welding and network.  

Taught as an online class, Mr. Glen Huettl, Garrison High School's Agriculture Teacher has been utilizing online curriculum from Lincoln Welding over the semester and has scheduled four full days of face-to-face, hands-on learning.  

The classes first two face-to-face days were held at Kenmare High School where students were welding all day long. The third face-to-face day was in Minot where students toured Bourgault Manufacturing in the morning and Central Machining in the afternoon.  

WSC's Welding Instructor, Tim Delorme will conclude the class with its last face-to-face session. Delorme, a North Dakota native with over 26 years of welding and over 20 years of fabrication experience, joined WSC this fall.   

In the end of April through the American Welding Society (AWS), Delorme passed and became one of North Dakota's few Certified Welding Inspectors and a Certified Welding Educator.
