Transportation Technician Technology (CP)


The Transportation Technician Technology program is designed to prepare the student for a career as a technician in the light/medium duty vehicle field. Graduates may enter the transportation industry with entry-level skills to become a technician specialist, a line technician, a general maintenance technician, a service writer, a service manage or a business owner. With the advancing technology in today's transportation field industry is in need of people willing to adapt to the fast pace of the computerized, automated field.

The technician of today must possess a high degree of proficiency in reading and understanding technical manuals. The technician must be able to diagnose and correct equipment malfunctions and also relate to customers, supervisors, and the general public. The objective of the transportation technology program is to provide quality training for students to serve effectively in current and new generation technologies.

28 Required Program Credits

Minimum 33 Required Credits for Certificate

The student will be able to:

1. Make trouble shooting decisions and complete repairs using the proper tools and equipment based on the concepts and processes learned in the Diesel Program.

2. Be prepared to take NATEF Repair tests.

3. Apply the knowledge of ethics laws, safety laws, and shop safety to their training and future employment.

4. Apply the knowledge of hazardous material laws and processes to their training and future employment.

5. Demonstrate communication and reason skills, the knowledge of diverse cultures and apply health-related knowledge to promote physical and mental well-being.

6. Become employable in their chosen field.
